Streaks on concrete from surface cleaner?

I recently cleaned the shop floor at my brother's work. As the floor began to dry while we were there, some streaks became visible in certain areas of the concrete. The streaks varied in width which was strange because I constantly overlapped by about 40% with my surface cleaner. Today my brother called me and said the streaks seemed to be where the sealant was removed/not removed from the floor. Why did this happen? This only happened on about 20% of the floor in one particular area, and the other 80% is beautiful. All I used was a B*g G*y surface cleaner and hot water. I thought the sealant would only be removed by chemicals. Was this a bad sealant job, or did we do something wrong?

I guess it depends on a few things :
age of the sealent
were the streaks in a high trafiic area where it would wear more
how much pressure
how hot
poor quality sealent maybe

but it dosent really sound like you did any thing wrong

- I don't know how old the sealant was, but I don't think it was very old. Maybe a year or two.

- High foot traffic, yes, but the areas that came clean have high fork lift/truck traffic.

- I cleaned with 3100psi @ 180 - 200 degrees. I don't know the exact temp, this was the units first use.

I think its just overlap marks............the places where the surface cleaner passed over twice are cleaner, hence the appearance of streaks.

Mike said it well, slow down just bit and go over it a 3rd time, sounds like the concrete was really dirty and if do a cross cleaning.

Twice one way overlaping then the other, not turning around but so you cover it all four ways. Do I make sense to you?

One thing if your walking to slow then speed up a bit, that with the above should take care of it.

It is not the Big Guy as that is what I use, the 28" one.

Run your temp between 160° and 180°.

I agree with Jon on washing twice cross way after the first 2 passes...seems you have a lil' more work to do and it should be fine.

Hello Mr .Yates

Just wanted to say hi,i discovered this great board few weeks ago ,but didnt find anybody close to my location.

I do mostly house washing and deck refinishing. How are things in Knoxville, are you getting busy yet??It has been pretty slow here ,but probably right after easter i will get really busy.

I have been in business 3 years part time, and this is first year i decided to put an add in Chattanooga paper, in service guide, just wondering it the service directory has ever worked for you.Kind of expensive and so far nothing.I usually stay busy from word of mouth.
Good luck to you,
Talk to you later
David
