Surprise profit question

I just finished up refinishing 4 decks at a condo association. I wrote the bid and included the cost for 8 gallons of ReadySeal, and it was accepted.

However, I only ended up using 5 gallons(even with a second coat on all flooring, handrails and stair treads).

The manager was pleased with the work.

Question: Do I still pass on the cost for the 8 gallons, esp since there was 1 hour drive time?

Thanks,

Mark

I don't see a problem with it. It was a quote, and not an estimate. You could kick back the value of the extra three gallons, but you have probaby already bought it, and would have to store it, until the next time you need that particular product in that color.

The bid is what it is, and I would not discount anything, as long as you know you did not cheat the surface out of any coats.
