Tandem machines

What is involved in running two machines single output to increase cleaning units?
I may have a parking garage coming up and thinking of renting a second machine to increase productivity with surface cleaner.
My unit is 4.0gpm at 3000psi
would second have to be the same?
Where do you plumb together, after unloaders?
Has anyone compared efficency with surface cleaners?
Is it better to run small diameter with larger nossles or large dia. w/ smaller nossles, given the same flow/psi ?
Alot to ask at once but you get the drift.
Once again thanks for input.

Adrian,

I would rent at least a 5 gpm @ 3000 PSI hot high pressure washer, and then run -2- surface cleaners.

Depending on what surface cleaner you have, it may not handle the volume produced by 2 4 gpm units.

I personally think for this job you would be best going with 2 seperate units.
(Probably not a good idea to run 2 units in series when one unit is a rental unit and not yours.) I do not feel the cost of setting it up would be justified unless you owned both units. It could be done though.

Thats my thoughts any how.

Don't get me wrong an 8 gpm @ 3000 psi
unit would kick **** but I am not convinced it would be the best way for you to tackle this job. We recently delivered an 8 GPM @ 3000 PSI unit we call "The Terminator" it really gets with the program especially when we ran it with our Steel Eagle 30" 3 bar surface cleaner.

I am sure there are many other opinions yet to come. :)

Hello Adrian,

Our main unit runs a little over 9 gpm @ 3000 psi. When we have wanted to increase production we run the surface cleaner (2-3's) with one line and a wand (#4.5) on the other. We always have a lot of touch up and debris to rinse after the surface cleaner.

Mostly when we do flatwork, we send two guys. Done at night. Three to 6 locations sometimes put on well over 100 miles getting to these locations. Drive-thru, dumpster area, sidewalks, (high-traffic areas). Seldom take the time to run seperate lines. Use surface cleaner with the same tips but rinse (get gum) with a #8 or 10 nozzle. Second guy is doing hose/light/traffic management, pretreating, loading unloading equipment, etc.
