Thank goodness for Behr

I have had so many customers that made the mistake last year of putting Behr stain on there deck then to realize that it is crap and call me to strip the stuff off because they don't want to deal with it again. Most people love the Behr paint and assume the stain is just as good. Little do they know!!! Anyways in Minnesota, Behr has been peeling within 6 months, have other areas had the same problems and if so, has it been giving you as much business as it has been giving me!!

Yes.....Behr is crap! And very difficult to strip in many cases. I can't say, though, that it gives me more deck work than any other crap product. Sikkens is another one that's a headache. Normally have to walk away from those. I believe both products have had class action lawsuits because of their formulas and false claims.

Just got done doing a deck that had some sort of latex goop on it what a huge PITA. ended up hitting some of it with the sander. Saw a house that was done with Sikkens was blistering allready. I guess it could have been bad application. I don't think I want to do those solid color stain removals any more

The Home Depot in my area sell's only the water based Bere Stain for Decks. I see folks walking out with gallons todo there wonderful redwood decks. I shake my head everytime I see that. And most times these are the folks that think 3 coats is going to last them.

When I see a deck with bere I walk.... I'm getting to old to do sanding in 100 plus temps on my hand and knees.

Several years ago, we did a Behr deck and it peeled by the following year. We called the manufacturer and was refunded for the product. At first they wanted the UPC code on the back of the can, but they reluctantly refunded us after a couple phone calls.

Big Mistake with BEHR

I fell into that same trap. Love the Behr paint for my rooms in the house. Thought they must have good stain too. Wasn't cheap so it must be good. Getting ready to do my house this year and thought I would first put on my wood furniture for color purposes. I had a table and chair set that I had done and two weeks later went to get some bird doo doo off of it with the garden hose and a nylon scrub brush and the stain came off!
I did all the prep work on this furniture before staining it. Pressure washed and used the cleaner. What a dissappointment!

What about the Behr house and deck wash?

Do or have any of you guys tried the Behr house and deck wash. If so how did it work out. What products do you recommend for Trex decking and vinyl siding to wash with?

We wouldn't use Behr anything - ever. On Trex products, particularly when Trex is paying us, we stick to their recommended products which they list on their website. As far as vinyl cleaners - we use commercial grade stuff that you can't get in the box stores.

We like Olympic for tints, been lovin' Wolman lately. Used to like Valspar, but having a hard time finding it...

Behr tends to peel.
