I thank you guys for having such a great site. For the last few years power washing has been on my mind.I know have some money saved and the sopport of my wife and parents. This is the year I will start my endeavor.I happen to have a power wash dealer a block away from where i live.I am looking to stick with residential work. The dealer has a few different models to deal with simpson,mi-tm, landa and hotsy to name a few.He is suggesting to me the simpson model (water shotgun). The specs on the machine are 2500psi at 3.5gpm i have read on past threads to shoot for a higher gpm at least 4gpm.In a brochure from landa i took from him they have a model with 4gpm and 2500psi i seem to like some more of the features of the landa model(pg4-25321) both machines are belt driven honda engines. What do you guys think or any suggestions on something else.
one other ? insurance, i want to do everything the right way so im guessing definitely get insurance?
thanks to you all Paul

In my opinion, the 4gal. per min pressure washer from landa will be ok on residential. But if you are going to spend the money for a new unit, I would look into one with atleast 4 gal -3000psi. 5gallon per min would be better, if you ever expanded into commercial work. And by all means don't work without insurance. Just remember the more flow, the faster the cleaning

Paul,
I just got your e-mail. Ask me anything you like. AS far as Powerwashers are concerned 3.5 gal/min at 2500psi will be Ok for residential cleaning. I would prefer to have 4gal./3000psi for residential. Cold water is all you really need in the residential field.

Down the road if your business has been pretty successful then I would reccommend a hot water machine because they can clean at a faster rate than cold water. The reason I would reccommend not buying a Hot water PW right now is because they are expensive and they don't have much mobility because of there weight. Most Hot water PW have to stay in the truck or trailer because of there size. A cold water Machine you can just wheel it up to the persons house and hook it to there garden hose and off you go.

Like I said, E-mail me with anyother questions you may have since we are pratically neighbors.

Buisness plan

Like on any trip you’re about to undertake you need to get a road map. Being an entrepreneur you need a business plan, I know it’s fun to look a shinny toys and talk to dealers, but you need to do your homework first. Now this is not fun but go to http://www.sba.gov/starting/indexbusplans.html and read. I am not affiliated with this site it just has all the information you could ever need.
