I am curious as to how one bids on a job and does not know how to clean? How do you know your bid is accurate? The problem with bidding before knowing is now your company reputation is on the line. Declining to bid allows you to save face and maintain a professional appearance.
While I am no cedar expert I will tell you it is not the same as cleaning regular siding. Do a search on this board and see if the answer is there.

WOW, you bid a stained cedar sided home like that? Man, that's well geesh man. If you have never done one before and you thought you could clean it anything like a regular house.. I'd call them back and say you made a mistake. That job will probably take at least 10 times the amount of work to do. You sure don't want to learn how to do cedar houses that way. Work with another company on a house first.. Then think about bidding them, they can be hell. I don't even like doing them and I've been at this for 16 years. I don't have the time to sink into one job like that.

The job consists of cleaning off the mildew which is light, no striping or restaining . Im pretty confident in my bidding abilities and was looking for any tricks you all have picked up. the house is mainly brick with the siding as a trim to transition to the roof with very light mildew .

Well one reason why some gave you the answer that apparently you did not want to hear is your first statement. I personnel thought it was a full cedar shack siding or cedar panel home. Well now you say it is mostly brick with some cedar transitioning up. Well if your just cleaning off the cedar than you can just use a mild brightener to help remove the mildew with no more than 500 to 700 psi of pressure for cedar. If you was restaining the cedar than a stripper would be needed, once stripper is cleaned off you will notice the tint oils in cedar start to bleed through, this will make you think you still have stain which is not the case. A wood brightener/neutrilizer will need to be used and let dwell for a certain amount of time. Once dry then followed up by a stain but I guess your not doing all that so just be careful on your pressure for soft wood, like cedar.
