Just saying, just a suggestion, no implying or putting any pressure. Just a thought about how we could generate more board activity.

What if the sponsors of this board voted on a best post or reply of the month and gave gift to the winner. What if the members voted the best post on the bb and one of the sponsors’s ships a gift to them. This would increase interest and no other BBS are doing it.

Just a thought to make things a little crazy. its doesn’t need to be a large gift maybe a bag of o-rings.

I'm here to just help not trying out for the best post,if I won anything it wouldn't change nothing on the way I post.I'm not here to win prizes for helping,Like I said several times before I'm free at no charge.

Mark I don't see a need for gaving free prizes for best post or reply.Your time is prize enough for me,why should I ask more of you when your already gaving more than most by running this bbs and answering Q'tions plus a sponsor.

Every party has a p _ _ _ _ _ , anyway it was just and idea and I have no control if the sponsors want to liven things up. Its not my money, I just come up with great ideas too make others rich.


It wouldn’t be about competition, it would be a fun thing, nothing serious. I guess maybe if someone else thought it up you would like it.

The rules would be simple, the bb already has a system for rating posts. We know what the best post would be at the end of the month. Besides we are not talking about a bass boat. These are o-rings for fun stuff. Not to hurt anyone’s feeling. No one is going to retire after they win the o-rings.


Fighting, I don’t think we have much of that, only myself occasionally. Well it’s just a thought {{{{{{you would win the most ridiculous posts that’s for sure.}}}}}}}

bigboy, don't go anywhere.. the gifts, i don't think it'll ever happen. just how are posts rated anyway? useful content? a response? a question? humor? most responses? viewed the most? will it be fair?

my guess would be that most of the sponsors don't even offer anything small enough to give away. how many sponsors are we talking about.

by the way i need to get on another soap box. we already are limited to what we can say about CERTAIN other companies names, products or their web sites. some we can't mention their names and some we can. is it because some are more of a threat than others. i guess this why i am hesitant about donating $50 to the bbs cause. oh yes, it is definitely worth every dime. but if some companies can be mentioned here and some can't, let the ones that are allowed to be mentioned support the board. ok, i'm finished.

Very quickly,

The rule is very simple and has been the same since day one. We have companies that help and support the site and some that don't. You tell me who should get our support. It may seem like some can and some can't be mentioned that do not support the site but are mentioned anyway.

That's because a few people intentionally go against a few simple rules and post that information anyway. I don't have time to chase these people around who intentionally try to create problems. If I see it and or someone brings it to my attention. I deal with it.

I also think it's to bad that you admit the benefits of this community, but feel everyone else should pay for your education. To help out with time and or financial donation is voluntary. Thankfully everyone doesn't feel the way you do. Or this site may not be around. I don't think anyone who has helped, feels anyone should feel obligated to help financially or with there time.

But when you say that this site is worth every dime, which includes in my mind the time people donate. Then turn around and say, let the other guy pay for it. I guess that could rub some the wrong way. The majority thankfully feels different.

This community is the best for a reason. I feel it's because there is a little structure. And because we have a lot of people that support it one way or another. Progress comes from givers not takers. The time and money donated from the members of this community is the sole reason you have the valuable information to read and these great people to turn too. A place to ask a question when your in a jam and get a quick response and somewhere to kick back and relax and tell a joke to friends around the world.

I feel very fortunate to be a big part of this and appreciate those who see it as well. There isn't one person that comes to this site that has not benefited from it ten fold. I want to thank all the sponsors, moderators and members that make this happen everyday. If it wasn't for us all coming together, a great deal of us may not even be in business any longer.

So thanks to everyone for your help keeping the doors open and furthering the enhancement of this community. Thanks for the on going education and most importantly thanks to all, for the new friendships I developed over the years. Thanks for the countless hours and money donated. Thanks for the huge and growing data base of knowledge, that's a click away. This is the only reason this community is were it's at today. Everyone who has had a hand in the success of this site. Should take a look back and see how far we have come as a group of good people and friends. Look at what we have built for ourselves and the new friends that come along.

We should be proud that as a group we were willing to give more than we took. I feel the rewards of those efforts are showing everyday.

It's a busy time of year. Lots of folks (guessing) sign on at night or on the weekend, and if they are doing so with less frequency now it is perhaps due to their schedules, and it being peak season for many. I know we have not had as much time for responses, much less anything else. This past weekend was the first real weekend of free time we have had in months.

This board gets great traffic all things considered. Just my thoughts...

Click the down arrow and chose your rating, it gives you choices so it is very easy to do.


Roy, ask yourself this quetion, do I learn here, do I gain knowledge from this board?

If you answer YES then consider sending in a check, there is no amount required but I would suggest base it on how you would rate your overall experience from this board.

I am not pushing you to send in any money but if you had to pay for what is offered here free how much do you think you would have paid out this year alone?

Call Microsoft, Quicken or any of the other major software companies and try to get help for free, most won't talk to you till after you give them your credit card number.

Just a bit of food for thought.

I’m not looking for handouts, Jon of all people you should know that I’m just trying to spice things up a bit.

JON, When you ask someone else to pay you are talking to 700 others who have not paid.

As far as me sending the money to the bb well, I will send money when I have it too send. It will not be posted in the spotlight. If it needs to be I will request it to be returned. Please let us stop discussing the issue of who has paid and who hasn’t. I thought this was hashed out months ago??????

I was not telling, asking or suggesting anyone pay even a dime here, all I was trying to do is have Roy realize how much all of us gain here.

I was not picking on him, I was surely not speaking for Dan Flynn and I was not saying Roy should send in money or leave, for anyone to do that I would think Dan F. would ban that person, myself included.

He has limits here and I know at least once I came close to one of them but either he overlooked it or I caught it and changed it.

Ron if you need a handout just hollar, I am sure I can spare a buck buddy!

But really you know where I am coming from, if not call me and I will explain it better.
