Tricky sealing job

Customer of mine has a Trex deck, with 98 feet of cedar rails and spindles. I need to clean and seal the cedar only. Not a problem, except for the extreme amount of caution it will take to not drip anything on the Trex.

Any thoughts on how much of a premium you would charge for this?

By the way, if he decides he wants me to wash the Trex........what cleaners work well on that? Never had to wash one before. This deck is under a year old, and should not have any mold on it....

I have a trex deck on my house and love it. Do not worry about getting anything on the deck if you are only cleaning the rail. Trex will take a stain so do not drip any type of finish on it. Should you get some on just lightly sand it out, it will not absorb in to deep. The color will change at first but will fade back and blend wright in, a few weeks.
As far as cleaning it. They recomend using a deck wash with sodium hypoclorite. I use bleach, diluted, and a little detergent.
Should be a good job for you. Don't let the trex scare you, it is hard to damage, even under high pressure.

Hi Mike,

I went to a cabot seminar last night and they said their line of stains in suitable for use on treks as well as wood. I've never used their products but I am looking into them. their tech line is 1-800-us-stain
or web site is www.cabotstain.com
Good luck,
Adrian
