hey guys I was just wanting to get some opinions on whether I would be better off buying a cheap surface cleaner or sticking with a turbo nozzle until I can buy one of the nicer bigger surface cleaners. Running 3800psi, 4.0GPM, It would prolly be April (at the earliest) before I could buy one of the big SC's like Mark sells.

I am sure others have strong opinions on this but my research shows that your setup, which is very close to what I am building, will effectively run up to a 24 inch surface cleaner. To run the big ones you need more GPM. That being said I would go with a surface cleaner over a turbo nozzle if you have anything other than a short walkway to do. A regular wand will do a short walkway so unless you are removing paint the turbo nozzle seems like it would be overkill.

Never buy a "cheap" surface cleaner! You will just end up buying another better one in the near future. For a new one with that machine you will probably spend around $500 for a nice one. You can pick up a used one for less but make sure you test it to see if the swivel still works right and the bars spin properly.

What is "cheap"? $300 or so you can get a BE 16" surface cleaner. Call Russ at Southside Equipment. http://www.southside-equipment.com
(888) 243-6506

Once you get a surface cleaner, cheap or not, you will love it.

They are like weed-eaters. Pay $100 for it and replace it each year or pay $400 and replace it every 4 years.

I have no idea what equipment he carries but i've used a BE surface cleaner and had a bunch of problems with the swivel. I'd look for a mosmatic swivel or another equivalent brand. I'm sure he sells other equipment besides BE, most distributors carry a couple of different brands.

I've had zero problems out of 4 of them in the past 11 months. Wait, one of them had a leaky handle and Russ shipped me a new one the same day. Other than that, no issues. I have run them for 4-5... 8 hours STRAIGHT (hot water) with no complaints.

Swivel is great; no problems at all. As far as I know it is the only one you can lube. I might be wrong. Keep it greased and it is great.
