Just finish washing a white vinyl siding building on a every busy main hwy...Had a black looking stain left by the top of building near the roof... At first I thought it was road film and why just there... Anyway I put some soap on it that I use to wash trucks, but this did'nt do nothing... Any one know what kind of stain this is and what is a good thing to remove this type of stain...

Looking for more secret to put in my log... planning on doing this full time this time next year... Getting out of coal mining and shift work all together...

Have a nice day...

I've used an oxalic acid based deck wash on vinyl stains with some success. Give it about 5-10 min dwell. Sometimes bleach mixed 9:1 w/water in a mister if you can reach it. Don't like using bleach but sometimes it's the most practical. Hope this helps.

Bill,

You mentioned that you don't like to use bleach on siding. Was wondering if you'd explain why not?

I use the diluted oxalic acid deck wash on the stains instead of bleach because I believe it's friendlier to the landscaping and it works. If there are only a few stains here and there I'll used the bleach in a mister if I can reach them and let the weather rinse it off. I've never had a problem with the deck wash. I know others use bleach on a regular basis,I just don't care to. That's just my way and it works for me. Have a good day, now gotta get to work, in the rain, again!

Just got in from doing a two story apartment building that was all vinyl. It had the black stain you were mentioning and what appered to be rust stains. We tried everything finally we went to Krogers Grocery store and bought a cleaning agent called The Works ,and it did!! We bought four bottles that was the clinging type and I can't say enough about it,it removed everything, even cleaned the gutters. Dwell time 15 min. Now we've added a new secret to our list and a couple of new potienial customers that saw us working and ask for quotes. Hope this info. helps.

George& Georgia, You said in your post that "The Works" from Kroger also cleaned the guttters. Did it also remove the black lines on the gutters (from the shingles) (electrostatic bonding)? I've read on this BBS that Gutter Zap works, but I haven't ordered any yet. Thanks.

Hey Larry, Yes it worked great. The gutters we cleaned were solid black from the top to the underside. Sprayed it on brushed once and rinsed. Turned out beautiful and no streaks, dwell time approx. 15 min. Our cost was minimum.TextText
