What makes a Waterjet better?

timhays mentioned in another thread that he has a Landa Waterjet surface cleaner. I have often wondered, but never asked, what makes this things so much better than other surface cleaners. It doesn't go any faster than others based on Landa's specs (rpm of the spinner), so what makes it better? I've heard others rave about them, but what makes them worth the extra money?

I think they are like Chevy's and Ford's,depends on whos useing the other. Some are like hotroding, home buildt and are better than most.

I know one thing,I want buy another one with a plastic base,I bought one from northern tool years ago with a yellow plastic base.It worked great until one of the local contractors I loaned it to melted the base a little,it solved the problem of loaning it tho :D.

Mike, the biggest difference is the Deublin rotary union that Landa uses ($500.00) lasts forever, the second is the adjustable height feature.

the handle is very easy to operate.

big enough to be productive small enough to get in tight places

plastic base which lasts longer when using corrosive chemicals.

all this adds up to higher cost and more value to the contractor,

but being able to have the confidence to sale your customers on the fact you have the highest quality equipment available, best quality workmanship and, best service is priceless.

yes we love to incorporate the price of our equipment into sales pitches (this is our biggest advantage)

That's it?? :)

The Steel Eagle also comes with the Deublin swivel, and it doesn't cost $500.00, it costs about $350.00 or so.

The adjustable height is fine, if you have a need for it, and the Steel Eagle has that option also. They're the same size (24"), though the steel eagle's body is aluminum.

I DO like the handle on the waterjet, but can't justify that much more for a handle.

I don't think most customers care whether I'm using a waterjet or a steel eagle or a whisper-wash or a Big Guy or etc etc. Most customers don't even know what these terms mean, many don't even know there is such a thing as a surface cleaner. I could just as easily tell my customer that my surface cleaner is one of the most expensive surace cleaners out there...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Steel Eagle is better, I was simply wondering why all the love Waterjet owners seem to have for their surface cleaners. I guess my real question should be, "Why should I replace my steel eagle with a waterjet". Apparently there isn't a reason, other than the ability to stand up to corrosive chems on the housing, and the convenient handle.

i am an honest guy in order for me to sell my customer on having the best equipment i need to really have it.

it could be argued that it isnt better than another but it costs more and thats what makes me feel better about myself.

i guess pschologicaly this is how i justify my prices and set myself apart from my competition.
