I want to know your feelings about the service you recieve from E-SPEC.

Am I the only one that feels frustrated when trying to deal with these folks?

Let me know your experiences, good or BAD, maybe if enough people have something bad to say Mr. Allison will make some much needed changes!

I agree with all of the above, if that makes sense. My experience with E Spec has been very good - prices are excellent. My frustrations come from dealing with cust service reps that don't know the products. Can't give guidance on equipment or chemicals - they just read the manufacturers literature and repeat it back to you on the phone. In those cases I buy from someone else.

Rick, ProWash,

Bill B. said it.

Their chems are very good, at a good price. The serpentine hoses are "cheap". I have had a few (10%) that are defective out of the box or don't last long. They have offered to return them to the manufacturer. I choose to let it be. I have tried the high dollar hoses from other suppliers and they didn't perform any better.

So if you don't expect customer service and you are shopping for price only, Espec will work. If you want or need customer service Delco Cleaning Systems is the only choice. You pay a little more, but their customer service is second to none.

See ya,
Rick

I'm not complaining about the merchadise, i'm talking about the idiots that you have to deal with when u call. They don't know jack. Also i ordered their serpintine hose once and they sent me hydrolic hose nothing like what i had ordered. When i called them they got an attitude about it and i had to pay to ship it back $250. Then it took them 3 months to give me my credit. Now is that how you should treat a customer that used to spend the kinda money i spent with them, I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!

how can you expect them to have employess that know anything about our industry and products? we make 100 an hour and they make 10 if there lucky,if they knew anything about our buisness they would be our competitors,if not you would pay a lot more for e specs products because of there increased overhead.

Completely agree with Tim, they have cheap labor and therefore have cheap prices. Order by part # and never had a problem. If you need great customer service, there are plenty out there to offer it, if you don't mind paying twice as much for the product you are buying. And no, you cannot have both. Are you going to offer top-notch work to your customers at the cheapest imaginable prices??

Right Jon, cheapest amaginable price ? I dont thank so !.

If they tell you what you wont , then they are liable, so there for you tell me what you wont and thats what you will get!

but they can screw up as well , so theres a fine line between the right part and wrong part.

so right down the part # of all the parts You wont, and hope for the best.

I brought $1,200 worth of parts from e-spec about 1 year ago and compared the price to delco and delco was $2,500 for the same parts! Dont get me wrong delco is good people! Larry H. helped me alot , but when it comes down to dog eat dog , sorry but i can buy alot for $1,300

Chuck I fell you Pain, been there , done that ! like i said before they screw up as well !:)

Under the hose in e-spec catalog is a little story. As with the better part of the catalog, there are little stories.
You must read there catalog as a book to understand what it is that you are buying. After you buy it then you dont have to re-read the story, you just know what your getting.
The hose story is in plain, easy to read, english.
It states that hydrolic hose is the best and so called "pressure washing hose" is crap. The last line in the story
""the only hose we sell is a true hydrulic hose"
So if i were selling stuff at rock bottom prices and you called and wanted to return a product that you ordered by your mistake by not reading about what you bought and prob have to deal with a bunch of other customer's that do the same damn thing. I would be pissed off also.
As a contractor im pissed also because people that "dont get it" cause the price's to go up.
If you want to jerk around and feel you need "service" then stay local or deal with higher prices to get "service".
They dont manufacture anything they send out bids to manufacture's to have there stuff built.
Professional plumbing warehouses sell part's to plumbers, not homeowners. Home depot is higher priced but will help/teach you "how to do it".
Sometimes i go to the HD and sometimes i go to the part's warerhouse.
E-spec pack's it's catalog with a ton of info any NEW GUY could hope for. There web site is also packed with very usefull information.
I wish that they would go to NO ONE to pick up the phone. Make it computer ordering only. Then drop the price's even more.
If you want to learn how to fix your equipment, easy, sign up to there class. Dont call them on the phone.
Dont know how to use a part they sell, easy dont friggen buy it from them go to a "full service" center.
Or at least be smart enuff to order your part/parts ONE at a time to see if you like there product.
Lots of products at stores are returned and sold as "open box" then marked "TSTO" these are product's i look for.
TSTO is store lingo for "too stupid to operate". After x-mas is the best time to get these deals.
I did not wish to piss off anyone just point out how e-spec can sell for less. They are a parts warehouse, not a service center.
I feel they describe their products fully and fairly.

Ron, i respect your opinion but i hope your reply about newbees and not knowing how to use parts or order them wasn't directed at me. If you go back and read the e-spec catalog it says serpentine hose moves like a wet noodle and comes with fixed ends and strai reliefs on both ends. They sent me unfixed hose. The hose they sent me was so stiff you could hardly flex it and it was the exact same hose they use on heavy equipment, nothing like what they advertise. The hose i use now is true hydrolic hose but it has a one piece outer rubber cover which is what they advertise. What they sent me was wrapped same as on heavy equipment. Maybe you should go back and read the catalog! and next time understand my problem before you reply. The hose they sent me was unsuitable for pressure washing. NOTHING LIKE WHAT THEY ADVERTISE!!!

Thanks for the input though!

CHUCK,i had a 50' section of the stiff hose you are referring to and it was like dragging a 30 pound weight around all day,i threw the hose in the trash after the first day,i didnt purchase it from e spec but i know what your talking about.

i now use the .79 ft lightweight single braid hose,im sure it doesnt last as long but it easy to drag around 300 foot of it

Ron P.,
You are exactly right in what you said about e-spec. I have ordered many parts assec. etc. from E-spec and I only had a few problems with the cheap stuff. You have to know what your ordering from them because they will screw it up if you have to ask them to many questions.

Personally I wouldn't order any expensive items from them because I don't feel confident enough in them to take that chance. This is where I believe in dealing with a local distributer would be the best bet. What would one do if they ordered a PW from lets say e-spec and it breaks down on you. Could be a big problem.

Anyway a rule of thumb for me is when buying from a cheaper place like E-spec or Home depot for that matter, Know what your buying and if you don't feel confident enough in there produt or especially there service/Knowledge then go to a specialty place and maybe pay a little more but have a piece of mind. For that you can't put a price on it.

Mel,

Can you explain how you make your own xjet? I would like to have a couple more of them, but they are kind of pricey, at about $150 a pop. If I could make a fairly comprable unit myself for $10, that would be great.
