who is the deck king around here?

I got a call for an insurance job .A 16 x 16 deck 2sets of steps and railing. The business across the road from this house burnt down and filled the house and deck w/ soot.

He wanted the house washed ,roof,gutters, etc...
I dont do houses . But I told him I would do the deck.

the house needs covered,bushes,stone, w/ plastic

And he said it took 9 gal to do it lastyear he brushed it on.

Now whatcha think? he wants honey oak sealer. What is the best and where to get it? I mean the best I dont care how much it is . I want something that will last and look good.

I have use some good stuff in the past but there is aways something better.

Will I cann't bite ya,I struck at ya but couldn't bite ya,guess you knock out my teeth with dat wittle stick,, my bonus ant working......yel I tried everything to bite ya but my teeth cann't get though the fence to do so,,,,so guess all I can do is Rattle a wittlebit but not enough to get my head smacked.......rattlesnake can turn into sneak-e snake you know.

Why don't you do houses your a powerwasher aren't ya,one needs to wash a house every once in awhile just so he can say I can wash anything nomatter what it is.
I washed one last year that was brick,stone,wood and vin''el with all kinds of bushes and sticker weeds around it,even done the gutters and roof and I don't houses either,I even did a doublewide.You have to do things like dat to be a TRUE fleetwasher weather a gentle touch or muscel your way though now dat a TRUE fleetwasher he can wash anything nomatter what it is and ""IF"" he is ask to do so he would do it with honor and repect to the one asking you to do so.He shouldn't be standing there kicking at the ground wanting to do just the deck saying I don't do houses it doesn't show repect and you call yourself a fleetwasher....bull......crap-e

I'm with big boy - You have to do the house. Not only ar you not eating all the food on the table - you are not solving the guys problem. He needs someone to clean up the mess. I'm sure the adjuster is going to push for someone that can take care of everything (not that the insured has to listen) to make it simple, only one three party check and one cantractor to deal with.

Have you thought about sub contracting the house wash?

Insurance work is great but you can't be to greedy - the insureed may say the sky is the limit. The adjuster will sing a different song - they like to go by 'blue book' pricing. It is probably about 20 % higher than we charge, and the waiting for the three party check almost makes that worth it, almost.

only commerical buildings. There is'nt enough money there in my area to even bother with a house. Everybody wants it done for nothing , and when it's done they bawl around b/c there is a spot way up there by the gutter about the size of a dime that I did'nt get.

so they can get out there rinky dinky p/wer from lowes and crawl up a ladder and do it themselfs.

And as far as the deck and insurance I already have the job He is not looking any farther .He got my name from another guy that I did his deck. And once again he wanted it all done but I =said naaaa NO HOUSES but if ya want your deck done call me ..

and he did the house.

No body wants to pay ..... so I dont wash 'em.

My vote would be Readyseal, Lt brown. Get 10 gals, do two coats. Keep the left over. you got approx 256sf so I wouldn't do it for less than 950 bucks, if you are going to strip it first add another 275 bucks.
I don't do houses either, though I do give house a rinse when doing a deck.

I understand you don't like to do houses, I would rather stick to just grease exhausts, I can make more money doing two grease exhaust than the exhaust and a drive thru at the same store, but I consider it taking care of my customers, why allow another Pressure washer into the equation, you never know! I guess it's your call, it just seems to make more sense if you did both.

I vote we give Big Boy his own place to post his thought for the day, I love reading his posts, I don't always understand them but I love to read them. Keep up the good work Big Boy

I didn't realize it was a time joke,tick tick tick when I get time I'll hehe at it.

Man I gas and deisel at a Quick shop and his flatwork is needing cleaning in a bad way,been fueling there for a longtime and joke with him and tease all his help.AS a customer I wish he would atleast clean the pumps and pad I fuel at mostly.
Its been a LONG time scents someone has wanted or came though wanting to show him how good they are for his business.

I DON"T DO FLATWORK its priced to cheap also as in your houses around you,but I guess I'm fixen to break down and tell him it needs cleaning to make his customer(s) happy,,meaning ME,,fixen to put a little shame on you on him BUT I alreasdy know what he's going to say as the reason I keep my mouth shout.I don't mind teasing his help BUT I DON"T DO FLATWORK and sure would hate to tell him that,which I want if he ask me how much to do so,,,it'll take awhile to do it if cleaned right and old Fred is a tight wad as I call him dat altime.His quickshop also has a carwash hooked to it called the Velvet touch.I already know how to word things as to get my fair pricing on flatwork when that dirty by useing his carwash and customers as in gaining his money back in my higher pricing but me keeping my mouth shout.Guess I'm going to have to talk to the newbee running around here trying to get business at lower pricing,old tight wad Fred can afford him.The newbee reads this bbs so maybe he'll run by there and help old Fred out it sure would make me happy,with his pricing he want be here coming this winter which I have told,but he said he was learning not to work so cheap,cann't afford to and stay in.

Just a question.You say that the guy used 9 gallons last time...9 gallons of what to do what.9 gallons of cleaner or 9 gallons of sealer?
Just wondering cause if it was sealer 9 gallons seems like a bit much for a 16X 16 deck.If it is sealer, you will need a chisel or some really strong stripper.

Hey Bigboy eat your words, ya gotta do a house you say, well ya gotta do a flat work job and might as well be that place y'all fuel up at.

Now youse says it is rather dirty, dat at the pumpy U use? if so dem clean up ur mess fellow. Gad I did two houses last summer and never again, EVER.

I will stick to that concrete stuff, might not always be the quickest stuff to clean but sure is fun doing it. Cept when it is 28° outside at 2 AM.

yum yum yum swallow but I do flatwork,houses,will try to do atleast one or two jobs a year on things I don't usually wash,just to keep in touch with other trades in the powerwashing feild.
When one says its just not worth it to me,they have one thing in mine MONEY which I will agree with that part of the worth but I do not look at it that way,sometimes the knowledge is worth more than the money when it comes to keeping in touch with other trades in the powerwashing feild.
Just like you and others that do flatwork or houses I'm sure you and they are making money or you or they wouldn't be making a living doing it...........I don't mine making alittle money or breaking even when doing something I do not usually wash but I'm not giving tight wad Fred any of my money cuzz I already know how to clean flatwork that dirty,just hope he doesn't ask me how much cuzz I like old Fred...........fred likes newbee's wanting to show him how good they are for FREE.....thats one reason I'm againest FREE dim-o,droping the price alittle or just breaking even is better than a FREEBE any day.

JR. I do think that this guy is trying to get something for nothin .the deck was clean on the other side of the house (away from the fire) but he had seen soot on the deck b/c now was on it..
I looked at it and I didnt see nothing wrong with the deck or house.. He wants the deck With only the best sealer,and wants it sealed underneath . so this explains why he used 9 gal for a 16x16......... I dont think I will do this deck for him I cant stand people like that............big-boy can come up here and wash his house and even seal the deck for me . since he dont mind doing a house or two...

Stop your whin'ing "I don't do houses",any good fleetwasher can and will clean a house or two just to better himself in fleetwashing,also he'll look at dirty flatwork as to better himself under the hood in fleetwashing.
I have two more greasey tractors to do today going to another sale,I'd stay cleaner if I did tight wad Fred's flatwork.I go around with my head hanging down enough as it is without doing flatwork.The house I did last year had high $$$ wood doors with brass and silver things here and there,it has vinl.,wood siding,brick and sandstone and alot of flatwork,even around alot of the flowerbeds and tree's.So I get all I need in bettering myself in fleetwashing by doing one house,,He drives a dodge so I have oily spots to deal with.Don't get me wrong b/c I whine alot also,like today it's 32 with a wind chil of 17,whine whine but it's got to go to sale torromow and the weather no better,whine whine,its even to cold for bulltoads and spiting snakes

O and yes wash little of everything will make you a better business man and a better fleeter washer............ron can even see a wet look lol lol lol but the drier the higher the shine
