Hey guys ... I'm fairly new to the pressure washing business. I started running my unit toward the end of September and was running an add in the news paper with an average of 4 - 5 calls a week.. Well All of a sudden come January 1st the calls stopped ! ... I have not had one call in almost 4 weeks. Is winter time the "off season" I'm not sure .. What are the slowest and best months for pressure washing ?? What should I do during the down time ? Thank you ...

You're not alone. I suspend all advertising (and washing) from Nov 15th 'til March 15th. I still get calls but if the people can wait, I book them for spring. There are probably posts archived on this board and others that talk about winter work. I use the time to focus on other business ventures and refine business plans. My guys (2 of them) stay busy painting so I don't have to lay them off.

I'm like Ken .... I am closed to early March., I have received two calls and set both up for March. I would think you would still be getting calls since your alot warmer them we are..

Cold Call!

I bet you can think of work and a certian customer that you would like to have. Go knock on their door and ask for their business! [wsmile] Show them (demo maybe) what problems you can solve for them! [hello]

Our call volume slows down during the winter but we still manage to stay pretty busy with three crews during the "off power washing season"

Gutter cleaning, roof repairs, ice dam removal, web site design and yes, nuisance wildlife trapping services. The only thing slowing us down right now is freezing temperatures. If the temps go over 38 degrees were out working pretty much non stop on all of our services. When they are 30-38 degrees were out doing roof repairs. 45 degrees or more and were power washing on top of everything else we do. It seems like I personally do more work during the off season!

Today I built another website for my company just to try a couple theories I have on search engine optimization and website designs. The website stuff is more of a hobby/challenge of mine, not really a business but I have been building quite a few sites lately for other people.

Thanks John, I just redid the site a couple of months ago. Now I'm going to tear it apart and rebuild it using a different model I've been thinking about testing. I'm also planning on moving all of my websites to a new server so everything is in one place and registered in one place. I've got web sites all over the place and it's time to stick them under one roof.
