Will Concrete sealer fix this?

Hello out there in PW land.

I have a problem in my own personal garage. The concrete is about 7 years old. Over the years the floor seems to be wearing then. It looks as if the concrete was "floated" too much when it was laid bringing the "concrete" to the top. It's not cracking or anything like that but the top of it seems to be turning to dust. I know it's not wear and tear as I am only in there a few hours a week. I just wonder if putting sealer on it well help keep the dust down.

The surface is not super smooth as it was not floated with a machine, only a 2x4. It was not broomed though.

I thought about using that epoxy paint. Anybody ever tried that? I really don't care what I use, it would just be nice not to deal with that dust it seems to create.

Thanks for all your help.

Hello Greg -
I used to operate a painting company and a friend who worked a local paint company and I epoxyed his garage floor with black and white checkers and then put a budwieser sign right in the center. It looked GREAT! The last time I saw it, it still shined and no noticeable problems after at least four years. They also park their truck on it each night! But, he didn't have the symptoms your garage floor has. As far as that goes I've seen it many times and have an idea about it, it is similar to what happens with brick, but this isn't an educated diagnosis. So - I'll leave this one up the experts!

Good luck and have fun!

Christopher,

Hey man thanks for the reply. I like the checkerboard idea. That sounds great. Please go ahead and post any ideas. You never know, it may be exactly what I need.

The floor is pretty clean. I always just used it as just a storage building / pout house (gotta have somewhere to hide from wife...ahm...exwife that is). Anyway it doesn't have any type of stains on it. I really just wanted to make it a little easier to sweep up. It's really dusty all the time. I sweep it up 2 days ago, went in there tonight, it needs swept again.

Not really a pressure washing problem but I knew you folks would come up with GREAT ideas.

See ya later
Greg
