I've partnered up on a few jobs over the years that where all great experiences. I also a few years ago invited another company to work with me on this building cleaning job. The guy lasted one day and probably because I have a killer crew he bailed after a days worth of work.

Nice guy but he said his arms were going to fall off trying to stay up with me and my crew.
He still does partime cleaning and every now and then we still yap.

So how about you? Do you or would you partner up with another company or two to complete a job?

I am not sure about the partnering up on a job John. I have a contractor down in the South Bay that all he does is seal driveways and pavers. He doesn't do any house washing or commercial work. With that said he has kicked me some good referrals. At the same time, due to my SEO/Rank I get paver sealing request alot in his service area....which I refer to him. It has been a good relation.

I don't think I would partner up with anyone close to my service area BUT I would not hesitate to call up Ant or James from S. Cali. I would make it worth their time to drive up I-5 to help me out on a job here in the Bay Area. As Ant would tell ya, I get down to S.Calif/Vegas often for washing jobs. Again, I know I could call either one of them to help me if needed and they would most likely be willing and able. I would do the same for them in a heartbeat.

Carlos its a tough call to partner up with someone when doing some of these jobs. So far this year I partnered up with one company for a job I had to do and I may be partnering up with another company if they get the job they put in a bid for. The two guys do live out of my state.

But in the past I have used guys in my state and close to my home. Especially with painters. Lasty year I did maybe 3-4 houses for this guy who's company is strictly a painting company. He also seals and stains houses but his powerwashing end is a little weak. Not to say that my company also did some houses where we did the whole job that consisted of Stripping a house and re-staining them with no other outside influences.

Some of my biggest jobs came from a contractor here that for the last two years he was at a deadline and he just couldnt get this part of the job done. Those two jobs on both of them were grossing me close to $6000/day and that was after his cut but don't forget I have the machinery and the guys who will when need be work those 20 hour days....and in case anyone is wondering my guys are legal and there young and smart but there not American. They drive, They learn, they listen and they speak English...well broken English but better then me at times when I'm flubbing my words.

I'm hoping this contractor will throw me another huge job because its this time of year the last two years that he has done this right before the x-mas rush....keeping my fingers crossed.

The odd thing of all of this is whats going on in the economy. About 5 yrs ago I lost my main guy who I took to a few RT's and a Convention. He was good. He also was a proud American and today we are still friends. He left working with me because of all places he got a Job opportunity to teach English in CHINA. I hated to see him leave but he did speak 6 languages and he was always good at picking up and learning languages. This guy was a friend of mine most of my life. He was also in my wedding party. He hit dire straights about 9-10 yrs ago so I gave him a job. I also had another guy back then who I hired from an ad I put in. He last a few years but he left also. In between I had other guys including 1 from Morroco who worked with me for 2 yrs.

I always paid decent money to anyone that worked for me if they were good. But 5 yrs ago the economy was booming and it was tough to find good workers in this industry because they had many many opportunities.

So in that time frame I hire and fire a few guys and I'm killing myself doing all the work in between. So I ask some friends who have businesses if they know anyone looking for work. Remember times were good so good workers were hard to find. I ended up after a few guys getting a guy who is one heck of a hard worker and is a bulldog. He just got laid off from a company because he was there 10 yrs and they got rid of him so they can hire 2 other guys at half his pay. This guy is legal and pays his taxes was denied unemployment because his employer who paid him on the books and always by check never paid the proper taxes. So this went to court and the employer got hammered and this guy got paid. I was lucky to find him. He's from El-Salvador. So I hire him and he is still with me today. I also have another guy with somewhat of a similiar story.

Jump 5 yrs later and the economy bites and now over the summer I get calls out of the blue asking if I'm hiring. Where were these guys 5 yrs ago?? Where?? Probably the corporate world and there life was sweet. Today they are out of work and I wonder if there work ethic would be comparable to my guys. My guess is probably not. Also I'm not hiring so I wouldn't know anyway. I did have a couple of guys over the summer that I hooked up with a little bit of work but same story. They just wanted to hang out and not work.

This country needs to go back to there roots and get that work ethic back. Ok I'm ranting..still a tough year here and next year it still looks bleek but it just makes me work harder to find more work.

I have received at least 3 calls this past summer from guys asking if we are hiring. I have had people stop at job sites in the wee hours of the morning doing commercial work asking if they can give a hand....

Ontop of that I have had maybe 6 companies call and ask if I would be interested in buying their equipment as they are going out of business!!

It's been an interesting year I will say that BUT I am already marketing for 2011.

So how is the west coast these days? I hear that Linda Rhondstats (man she was great and a hotty back in her prime) old boyfriend Gov. Brown is back in town. Do you remember
The late night movie that played for ever in the theaters "The Rocky Horror Picture show"?
Tim Curry who's funny as heck of course played the lead part Dr. Frankenfurter. The only song besides his Rocky horror songs that I ever knew he sang back then that I like was called "I do the Rock" and he had that line in there "Gov Brown and Linda". ..and 35 yrs later Brown is back in town. Good luck to you guys cause Cali like NY needs all the luck they can get.

Things are good. Commercial work has been the bright spot out here. Residential washing is a luxury these days. People are still in the "Sky is Falling" mode and holding onto their $$$.

With Jerry Brown coming back.....who knows what direction we will head in.

As for me...I stay low to the ground and bust corners when I need to.....
