x-jet

We tried the x-jet again today, but we are having a lot of problems with the overspray.

When I bought the x-jet, I thought it would work somewhat like the attached image, but mine barely gets 8 feet before fanning out into an uncontrollable spray cloud. The people spraying are getting upset because they are getting covered in backwash and I am "almost" positive that the neighbors are not pleased when they see their windshields covered with whatever chemicals we happen to be using at the time.

If anyone has any experience with this tool and knows if I am doing something wrong or if I have a bad piece of equipment, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Have you spoken to Xterior about this yet? If not, why? 1-800-XTERIOR.

Overspray is normal with the xjet, its just going to happen........especially in wind. But, it should not be happening only 8' up........

Mike:

I haven't spoken with exterior yet. For some reason it didn't cross my mind. I will be calling them today though. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am glad to hear that someone is using the x-jet and getting different results. Now I know there is a problem with the unit I have and not the product.

Thanks

John, Take the quick conncet plug ogg and check the orifice inside. It is possible it got left out or just has the wrong size for your machine. Mistakes happen. You should have a #13 if your machine is in the 5-6 gpm range.

Steve:

I opened up the nozzle and saw that I have a 9. I contacted Glen, who has offered to swap it out.

Thanks for your help!

x-jet problem too

Went out to play w/ my new x-jet for 1st time today. What happens? Same as ARC's problem. At about 8' it starts to fan out and spray all over. So took mine apart to check orifice size too - you guessed it - a #9 orifice.
I have a 5.6 gpm 3000 psi skid which, according to Ron Strickland(at Xterior) and others here, I need a #13. This AFTER I provided info when purchased! So heads up everyone. Any problems like this are most likely a wrong orifice size.
Oh well. Back to the old dual lance soap tip for a week.

It is a little annoying, but I am glad that we have resources like this to learn so that not everyone has to make the same mistake and figure out solutions on their own!

I would like to let everyone know that I bought my x-jet from Glenn at ACE and when I posted my problem on these boards, he was one of the first to answer, explain the problem, and offer to swap it.

Thanks Glenn.

Great. If you haven't already, make sure you get a close range attachment for your xjet...........it really comes in handy at times. Costs about $11. Allows you to spray things 1 to 10 feet away.

Does the orifice # go along with gpm range, lower to higher range? Could that affect 'splattering'? I am not getting near the 40' distance, but I know I am using a lower gpm.

I also just purchased an x-jet .
same problem with a #9 orifice.
I got a #13 and I am still not happy with the
performance. Sprays maybe 30' but
is really fanned out. I'm running
3000 psi @ 5gpm

Just bought an x-jet and want to make sure I have the right
oriface size. I took the qc plug off and I have a #9. My machine
is a 4gpm/3000psi. Can anyone tell me if this is the right
size for my machine? Any help is appreciated. thanks
