Hello all,my wife and I are starting a residential power washing business next year.
We are looking at a hotsy 3200psi@3.5gpm for $1250 or 3500psi@3.8gpm for $1380 both are cold water machines. Also a 72"wand $45 and 1 brush and one 8'pole for $32.We are also going to get a X-Jet-$159.Are these good prices? We are getting this equipment from a local power washing distributor.I like the idea of them being close and there policy is if I have any problems bring the item in and they wil give me another one to use untill mine gets fixed. We can't afford a hot water unit as a lot of our money goes into our snowplow business. The distributor also sells profssional house wash but I have seen some other mixes. What are you opinions on these-
1qt jomax,3qt bleach,4gal water OR 1qt laundry detergent,2qt bleach,1cup cascade (spot free),3cups jomax,4gal water OR 1qt jomax,2.5qt bleach,1cup dawn,1cup cascade.Thanks for your help,feel free to email us at TimsSnowplowingandMobileWash@webtv.net

Do comparrison shopping before buying, no two dealers are the same.

Do you plan only to wash houses or add other things to your list of what you clean?

Best advice here is find the money and buy the hot water machine now because you will wish you did and end up paying more later.

I would not go below 3000 psi and 5 gpm regardless if hot or cold.

There are many companies that sell some of what you're are buying here on the internet, best advice is know who your are buying from and stay away from the ones you read have a bad name.

Ever considered buying a used setup, you can get some pretty good prices on them.

Hey Tim,
Go with what you can afford
If you see you are makin enough money to justify a hot machine then spend your money that you earned from your cold.

You can do alot with the cold machine even a fleet of trucks.....

It will take you a bit longer but it can be done.

Go with what your wallet is telling you ...........

I cant give 'ya much info. on the bleach, The only time I use that is when the wife ask me to do a load of white clothes for her!!

Welcome to the BB!!:)

Bully Wash, that's all we plan to wash(homes)
Was thinking about getting a surface cleaner for sidewalks and driveways also.Wife and I talked about a used setup but we would feel better going with new.If this takes off like we hope it does then we will go to hot.Dan I know just how you feel about the bleach.LOL

If you're only doing homes and driveways, you can get by without the hot. I have a hot machine and rarely use it.

As far as bleach goes, try getting some 12% liquid pool chlorine from a local pool supply store or chemical/cleaning supply place. It usually winds up being cheaper, goes further, and allows you to up your strength for really bad mold/algae.

As far as soap, I use Citracleen, sold by Steve Rowlett. I've tried several other soaps, and haven't found anything that even comes close to the results I get with Citracleen. Email me at oneness@gator.net if you want details.

You can always add a hotbox later if you find it beneficial, or if things are really going well, you can keep the cold machine and add a hot machine. A backup cold machine is always a good thing to have.

I went all out when I purchased my rig. Hot water , 5.2 gpm . What I didnt think about was the price for surface cleaners( $300-$1000), or the price of a good extension wand ($300-$500). You can buy one cheaper but trust me you get what you pay for. Cold water and an xjet is all you need to start out making money. The more gpm is always a plus. Hot box, water tank , surface cleaner can come later. I rented a surface cleaner $25 a day until I had enough work to justify buying one.
