"A PWNA conversation"for members and non members

Ya know, I was just thinking. I am a member of an organization called the AMA it's an organization for the Remote Control Airplane hobby. It costs $58 dollars a year, and it doesn't do much more for me as an individual except supply me with liability insurance for me when I fly my planes. It seems to me that if the PWNA would lobby to the insurance companies to help with insurance rates then I would sign up in a new york second. To think that if I paid $195 a year and get a 10% discount on my liability insurance because I am a member and I took a couple classes on saftey and the sort, then I wouldn't hesitate to join. There is a goal for you clean country. I could see where that would give the organization some "real" weight in this community. But beware. Just like the AMA provides that valuable insurance, there is the same if not more complaining going on because of regulations to the various aspects of the hobby that the organization forces on it's members. I don't worry about them, because the members of my local club could care less about the regulations, they just want the members to be insured.

You already know what the reply would be Max>>

Join and then you can have it in your area, They will tell ya' to get involved and then you will be busy looking for members in your area.

This is what I have been trying to say for so so long.. PWNA has been a org. for how many years and it still cant get off the ground.

If some of the things that were implemented that were talked about on this BB then you might see a change.

personally I think it should do something different to get the word out ... Do something more then just hood school.....and such

Boy i'm on a rolll here. I would also join if the PWNA had representation in each state, and the representative from each state to the PWNA had one vote on actions taken by the PWNA for regulations to the Organization. The representative would be voted to the position by the members from each particular state. The PWNA could make this happen and then even members in each state would have a sense of real belonging. Of course there would be real issues with this, as would be expected but then again there are issues with most things.

I have to appologize I didn't read the other replies on the 3rd page here. Boy the river of dung runs deep. There are 3 members of the PWNA here in nebraska, and all off them are in Lincoln and Omaha. None of these guys are benefiting from the PWNA as far as experience and not learning from trial and error. I know this because I know all 3 of them and have helped them on countless occasions. There is no help that is "free" that comes from the PWNA. If you doubt me call them or email them and ask them to tell you how the proper way to clean a resturant hood. I did this for "free" for them because the PWNA told them to go to a class. Which is expensive. Like I said before the PWNA may and I do mean may help some members, but it doesn't help the majority. I have done more for the PWNA members in my state than the PWNA has ever done for them. And that is simply because I am a nice guy and there really isn't any real competion between us. God help them if I decided to go after thier precious restaurants. My soda blasting is by far the superior way to clean them and it takes just once to take the business. There are none of the downfalls of pressure washing and there is a huge upside. Plus at least twice the money. But compared to the industrial jobs I mainly do, it doesn't make sense to go for the restaurants at this time. But I can't say that will hold true in 1 or 2 years. The downfall to Soda Blasting is the $30 grand it takes to get the proper setup.

I will say that by replacing my pressure washing business with soda blasting I was able to pay for the machine in 4 months. So go figure. Now I have the best of both worlds.

And one other thing... Is this beginning to sound like an Amway speal or what?

"This is the reason why I am attending the Dallas PWNA convention coming up in Feb/2004. I want to skyrocket past that learning curve and I want to surround myself with people that have the same motivations/interest that I have. "

I can gaurantee that nobody goes into any this kind of business just wanting to fail. Not to say that there aren't good people in the PWNA, I just love Beth, but there are lots of other places and people to get good info that are not in the PWNA.

Hi Dan S,
Wouldn't it be wonderful if one day I had to send you an edible hat? It sounds to me like you really do wish there were certain things that would change to make the organization better.

There are alot of things that the BOD is working on, but these things take time to properly plan, and to implement. Nothing happens overnight. I have said it before and I'll say it again, we are volunteers who are elected. We put in time for the organization on top of what we do for our businesses and our families.

Don't any of you ever feel like there simply isn't enough time in the day? Like you can't add anything else to an already packed schedule? At least give us credit for trying to make the organization better. We know it's not perfect, and we always appreciate ideas. Max Rob, the idea you presented here has come up recently to the BOD, and is being discussed. All we ask of anyone, is that they keep an open mind and consider the PWNA from time to time. Watch us change and grow. ;) You just never know when we'll surprise you.

That sounded just like a pwna professional Beth,"wouldn't it be wonderful" altho the hat may taste better than crow alot of the X-members had to eat.

There is enough time in a day if you plan for the day,why would anybody want the days to be longer, they would just overload their plate nomatter how long it was,to me beef taste better than hog.

If you do not have the time why not past the biscuits to someone who does.We hear alot of that "I don't have the time",if someone hasn't the time to help better something why stand in the way of others who may have the time.If I do not have the time for a customer I past them on to someone who does, don't forget to send Cody a hat too with no return address ;).

Beth,

I am glad to see that you are a part of this discussion. You said it for yourself in your last post. "Things are being discussed" and "these things take time", not to bust your bubble or do I want to seem like an a**hole, but PWNA seems to always be discussing and taking time to improve. As I have said in previous post that this discussion has been talked about, talked about and then some over the years. Nothing ever gets done this way and soon PWNA will have another change in board members and back to square one.

I would join in a heartbeat if PWNA sincerely worked for the establishment and gave the members a voice in decision making.

I am sure to all of us Power Washers out there that the bottom line is cost and what you get. As all of us are business owners the importance of controlling expenses vs. profit.

PWNA can market to distributors of equipment, chemicals etc.... PWNA has to start somewhere but PWNA must provide the numbers so that distributors can see the benefit.

If PWNA went to Landa and said we want to turn you on to a potential 1000 customers if you give each one a 10% discount, I guarantee Landa would hop right on it. PWNA would have a hard time with selling only 250 customers.

So, in short, PWNA should have a promotion to have an all due amnesty for 6 months to join. PWNA would need to get the word out through bbs's etc... After six months PWNA could proudly say the have x amout of members and then and only then start marketing PWNA to insurance companies, equipment distributors, equipment manufacturers and chemical companies.

Also send out to all new and exsisting members, stickers to place on vehicles, signs etc....

I know some will say that this is not right for the current members that paid. I say oh well. They joined to have a voice, They joined for promotional reasons, They joined hoping PWNA would eventually be big enough to do something for them. Well guess what, It will never have the impact PWNA has to have unless the following above steps be taken. Remember: You have to spend money to make money. Lets say for instance that PWNA spends $2000.00 on this promotion amnesty. PWNA would make that and more if PWNA stood for something. Think about it: at $195.00 per membership x 250 = $48750.00. At a 1000 members @ $195.00 = $195000.00.

Just my 2 cents and I hope that PWNA does not sit around and discuss, discuss and discuss. The above needs no time at all to promote.

What Happened?

Everything was going well and professional with great exchanges and efforts made. Now everyone is saying crazy things, posts are deleted and edited, and while PWNA members were encouraged to post I see that mention of the PWNA in GWAS post and the link in Beth's was changed. What rules were broken to have them edited? What happened to such a great thread? It is sad to see this happen I agree with Dan S that everyone can take from this all the good dialogue from it.

Hi Everett

Mark deleted Dans post b/c of some slang words that he/we thought was in the best interest to the owner of this board. Also one or two was deleted b/c it had no meit to the case at point.

I deleted one of Johns post b/c it also had on meit other than trying to pick a fight with Dan.I also edited Beths post b/c she has been told several times not to LINK this board with others boards nomatter who, what or where they link to.I didn't change no wording in her post as she could have done the same, maybe it was the reason she had to scoot.Gwas was edited of just a few words that also didn't have no meit other then kick Dan.

I will say this,Dans not a moderator of the board at the mo'ment, not to say we want let him mod again in the someing days.So you see we not only delete and edit post from the ones that have been told several times not to do this or that we also punish our own.

IF you do not want to see any pwna memebers post deleted our edited please have them reread the rules b/c they too can be punished if thats what they want.

Season Greeting.

Larry,

Take a look at page 5 of this post. Doc Reisman got one over on ya. Is that a link I see ? Somebody's got to keep ya on ya toes. What did ya do, get a hook in ya eye.

There are other links on the BBS as well. Maybe I should just link to the threads to show you all of them. There are tons of them. Larry is being selective in his edits... ;)

Simple fact is Gwas wanted info on PWNA and I gave it and that bothered them, since they don't like it. Just because it's not for you, do you have to get in the way of those who do choose to look into it further? Doesn't make sense to me.
