What would you use (product); and - what would be your method of dealing with this problem if you ran into it on a job?

Andy,
Ready seal is still a good sealer but as with all decks preperation is a key. A deck that is burned out from sodium hydroxide even one neutralized will in most cases have an effect on the longevity of the sealer applied.

Extreme Solutions and Ready Seal

Just a quick note!!

I also use the products that Russel sells and am having very much success stripping of all types of stains. The two new product HD-80 and the other ECF-38 or something work very well for me. One question that I did have is that one gentelman said that the Ready Seal will not hold up after using these. Does anyone else have this experience? I am currently having a problem with Ready Seal fading and am looking for an answer.

Thanks

The Ready Seal will hold up fine after using those products.

Most likely, the problem you are experiencing with the Ready Seal is due to not applying enough product.........or maybe you have what I refer to as a "thirsty deck". Usually these are older decks that you see this problem.........they really suck up the sealer..........

I usually tell the customer that this could be a problem if it is an older deck, and that they should expect to have to reseal a bit sooner then usual the first time. I tell them that I have applied two coats, and that is all I can do at this time. I tell them it might need to be done again in a year and a half. Most people understand.

The Ready Seal on my own deck is fading.........my deck is only a year and a half old...........but, I sanded the floor before I applied the Ready Seal........and I only applied one coat.........that's why its fading.

I have been using the product for going on three years now.........each of the few problems I have experienced with it can be explained.

I have had two problems with almost immediate fading of the readyseal. One was a new deck and I put down 2 coats. It required a third coat which I put down a couple of days past the 2 coats and it turned out great. The other one was an old deck and it took 3 coats also.
