I have been reading various threads on this board and others about training. The TN school claims that they train you to operate as a one-man operation. But I have been reading about generous individuals esp. on this board willing to take on work-for-training people and let them be a part of their crew. Does Rusty teach techniques that are specialized for owner-ops as that will be how my business is set up? Are these crews only focused on bigger jobs and let the smaller jobs go to 1-man operations?
I am just trying to make a decision on where to get my training for a 1-man op. Thanks for the help.

Dude, Read Read and Read Some More. I will not go into details or say which school is better. The TN school has some very happy successful graduates..So do the other schools. Before I get myself in trouble again...I'll let others from different schools including the TN school chime in. But before you decide on which school to go to READ!!! For a solid 3 months read all you can about the subject on this and the other BBS out there. Grease is definitely not for everyone.

Also Read up on IKeca's web site and NFPA manual and any KEC manuals you can get your hands on. The schools can be good they also teach you how to run your business and how to market it. If this is something your not confertable with that may be something to look at. I personally like the in field hands on training it shows you what to expect(Grease covered head to toe).

Just my .02

Good pointer there Kory, I bought Manuals and a KEC Video off of Ebay that helped a bunch. I think the NFPA 96 code cost me 35 bucks? from the NFPA site.

I heard there is only one school out there that will teach you how to sell grease. Is this true?

ABC!!!!! Yes there is only one school I know of that will take you out and teach you how to sell on actual accounts. Many of the other schools will take you out to clean on accounts but they don't show you real world real time closing techniques. This school is magic and I was amazed out how they could get a Chinaman sign on the line which is dotted even after he choked on his egg roll when we told him the cleaning fee. I do not know if the school is accepting new students. I believe the school is booked solid for a couple of years. Mbryan could you please post the number again, I know they had to send calls to a service center due to the switchboard being slammed all the time.

I did this several times teaching guys. I had one go to Texas to school. He said it was a waste of $$ as they just went over the same stuff I did. I will do so again.
