Has anyone used this? Not sure how it works, but ordered it to try it out...

It says, "Design and build your own hose or adapt and repair hose in the field (no crimper required)."

Could be nice for the reel...

<font color=e87400>Yeah ORange, used em plenty. There pretty simple. Just cut your hose, screw the large piece counterclockwise until it the end of the hose hits as far as it can go, what it does here is - when you screw it on it threads to the hose rubber. Then, just screw in the smaller piece to the larger. Done. I suggest using an abrasive circular saw blade for cutting, a vice for holding & a couple sockets for threading.

Thanks for the vote of confidence... This will be a lot better than throwing out good hose that has gone bad at the ends...

dont forget to squirt a little oil @ the end of your hose and the fitting>> it sure makes it alot easier!!

I use a Makita 4.5 inch angle grinder with a metal cutoff blade to cut the hose. I used to use a hacksaw, but the Makita gives a lot cleaner and faster cut.

There is alot of folks that can do it in a shop. But when you are in the field and have a break They work great. takes about 15-20mins to make a repair maybe less.

Okay Scott, or anybody else, how long would you say it takes to repair a hose?
Have you ever timed your self?

Im just wondering I dont think I ever really timed it .Next time I will, just to see how long it does take.

Never had to throw the whole hose out, just take to a shop for repair. Have never used those ends either, I just switch out the hose for a good one, and get the broken one fixed later.

Mark, what do you get for a set of those?

<font color=e87400>I can do a repair in about 5 minutes maybe a little less. I have air tools on my rig, I use a die grinder to cut it & an impact drill to run the fitting on, I do it on a vice mounted to my bed. bing bang boom done. I much rather have it repaired in the field right when it breaks than later. Fixing later takes more time by far & only servers to add "one more thing" to an already overburdened to-do list!

One point of note though, it's been my experience that the term "reusable" hose fittings must actually refer to being able to reuse a hose after it's broken, because 9 times out of 10 the reusable ends break when I try to take them apart to reuse again! I've gotten to the point where I don't even try to take them apart, I just toss em. Even so, they are well worth the money.

Can't you just cut the hose instead of try to pull off the end?

Liability issue for me.
I'm with Alen just bring extra hose. I quick connect from machine to reel, just hook up to the machine with a 100' er until I get back to shop. No down time and no extra tools and/or liability problems.

I agree with the other 4 want-a-bees,carry spare hose's and fix later. That way I do not haveta worry about working alday with wire in the end fingers.
