Sorry, I just read the rules on posting links. I have a high respect for both Owners & Admin's on this board and noticed that we have one sponsor that sells/distributes products similar in nature to sodium percarbonate, sodium hydroxide which we all use as cleaners/strippers. So due to this, I will respect the rules and not post it.

I will say this. You can find this place on the internet as I have done.

Again, I apoligize but we all have to respect this board and all of "OUR" sponsors..

OneCall,

To mention sources for raw materials in general discussion is fine. The line gets crossed when blatently pushing products for your own gain, or in some cases, others gain.

I appreciate all of the responses, I will look around the net for it unless you want to just mention the name, it seems to be okay, thanks.

When using Sodium Hydroxide do you use the Caustic Soda Flakes or the beads, or is there something else that you use? Thanks, Ronnie Reeves

Thanks Aplus. The company is called The Chemistry Store. And we use the beads. Flakes are allot quicker to dissolve but the beads seem to work better for us.

I used to buy a lot of raw chems from them too. But shipping got too expensive, and I've just found it easier to buy chems that are premixed to do a specific job.

One bad thing about the Chemistry Store is that they only ship caustics via Fed Ex, which means you pay shipping, plus a $20 Federally mandated Hazmat fee.

If you can accept shipment from a commercial line, like Roadway for example, you don't have to pay the additional hazmat fee. Larger chem distributors and suppliers are able to take advantage of the commercial carriers and save you money.

I have to mention here clearly that it can be very dangerous to mix your own raw chemicals. You better know exactly what you are doing and be sure to wear appropriate safety gear.

One mistake, and you could create an explosion or fire, not to mention life threatening situations. It's not all about saving a couple bucks.

Tony I agree about buying the pre mix as I am just starting out. I have used Jomax with great results with house washing and have purchased some Powerhouse from Sun Brite and will also buy some Citracleen to see what I like best.
Thanks, Ronnie Reeves

Just a note on The Chem Store. We buy everything we use in 2lb containers which do not require hazmat shipping. Anyway with these types of cleaners/strippers we are talkin about, they are only good for x amount of hrs anyway once mixed. Although you will not have the additional shipping when you buy in the 2lb containers, you still will pay shipping based on weight as with anything you have shipped to ya.

Aplus is correct in saying, be very careful when mixing any type of chems. If ya dont know what ya doin, then stay out of the kitchen. Even if ya know what ya doin, it is easy to make mistakes. Check and recheck before and during mixing procedures. Dont take any chances.....

What part of Mississippi? I'm from Louisiana and can buy it locally in liquid form in 55 gal drums.

OK - so I found out where to get the sodium hydroxide - but....
tell me why is it so good - what surfaces does it work best on and what are the pitfalls - what do I need to watch for so I don't screw up someones vinyl - painted cedar - or hardboard siding.
and can it be used on a deck.

Thank you -
