sodium hydroxide

How are you guys storing this stuff? I was planning on getting a plastic box and locking it behind a chain link section in the garage to keep the kids out of it... Would it be better to store it in the back yard?

(I know this is a three month old post, LOL!!)

OK?! LOL!!

Not sure what exactly you are refering to Larry, but if it is because of the back yard, it would also be locked up in a shed =)

The reason for the plastic is because of it reacting violently to metals and to moisture.

The MSDS paints a pretty nasty picture, I won't even take it out of the truck until I have the proper storage for it... ; b

I should have chewed you out while I was at it....

Every watch a chicken or bird wake up in the mornings without them knowing your watching them.Takes a loooooooooooone time to ever get their eyes open, really quiet funny,my grandkids have been trying for about 3 hours now.

Anyway,Either rent a commercial place for this foolish thinking in making chemicals in the back yard. The savings you save may not save your life or your kids or the guys kids next door or the crook stealing a handout. When I started making chemicals in my back yard I knew the raw chemicals where dangous but I didn't know JUST how dangous they really are.The tec "knowledge" that came busting though my doors with the speed of light made my new pc hang up or lock up.I couldn't get enough info fast enough as to learning just really how dangous it was just to walk in my own back yard.Rattlesnakes were everywhere with a few cottonmouths laying here and there not counting the quiet one that nobody knows what is.CHemicals are like snakes, some one bite and your a goner and some bite ya a little at a time which may take a few years before your a goner.

Even the guy that owned Soap factory is no longer above ground as he too knew it only sometimes takes one mistake.

The chickens and birds finally got their eyes open, lord help me,its rainning outside.

Do some searching while I feed the flock

I drink sodium hydroxide for breakfast.....Who needs a second hand anyway ? Cant you guys not wash with one ? I just cleaned the kids pool with that stuff and forgot to rinse....Well at least their clean. Anyway, listen to larry, he knows what he is talking about. Why do you think his nick name in "FINGER" no not "FINGERS".

Oh and not to mention, hydroxide is great in getting the red out. Feels great on the skin and if you want a bikini wax all over, just let some of the overspray hit cha in the face. Feels like new skin......

Really without going any farther I don't think you can, check with your city's laws as to what kinds and how much, and the warning to others within feet or miles.

Look on the web for mishap's that have happen with chemicals......

I know the the craziness that come with chems... I don't mix chems if I don't know how or how they will react with the others.

Burn some magnessium and then throw water on it... Talking about violent reactions.

The reason I bought the Flakes rather than the Liquid form was so I can control the spills.

If the flakes spill on the floor of the garage while I am out at a job, I can come home and sweep it up. If it is in a barrow as a liquid, I will be lucky if only HAZMAT is there cleaning up the mess when I get home.

I won't even take this stuff out of my truck until I have a storage area built in my Garage to store this stuff.

It would kill me if my kids were to get into this stuff.

Can't store this in my tool box because it doesn't like metals and if it gets wet, pisses it off also.

Plus I don't want to loose my trailer and have HAZMAT cleaning it off the freeway and then sending me a huge bill for clean up.

Nice to see your pic again Larry.. That is the Larry I know, LOL!

Some back yard master minds don't know all the laws thats goes ago with that kind, how much, feet and miles that some chemicals call for,Plus so much coverage which is alot.

I no longer fool with the raws chemicals in my back yard, the worry that went along with it is not worth it to me.The only way I'd mix any chemical would be at a commercial place and not in dangering the home owners around me.Some chemicals as to the one I played with had deadly fumes, which if a 55 gal spill the fumes could kill for miles, depended on the wind.

I have a good Alumium brightner and degreaser fomular, atleast I think so.The only way I got it was playing mix and match,I can count myself lucky for not getting blown up or badly burned.
I'm glad I buy mine now already made, the cost is more but I can live with it.Do they make a lock a child cann't open, the kids next door may already know how.I live out in the country but close enuff to town the law reads tell everybody within 5 miles of ya if you had so and so chemical.Would you like living next door to a master mind or one even a few blocks over.

Nice to see your pic again Larry.

I thought I'd fallow Dan around for awhile and if I dressed like him he wouldn't see me picking up seeds he drops.

Wow! Don't think I want to mess with those types of chemicals...

The one I got is enough for me to worry about...

Won't be mixing around here.

One funny thing about sodium hydroxide is this....in dry form, it doesn't burn or have any particular effect. Now mix in a little moisture or water, and the beast comes alive!

That's why I chose this form, in its stablest form, if it has one... Add the catalyst, water, and all hell can break loose...

It still can burn if you get it on your skin or inhale its dust, because of the moisture in your skin and needless to say why if you inhale it.

Respect it or it will make you respect it, that's my opinion...
