We started in 2007 and so far things are going well. I look forward to learning more through this forum!

My name is richard, my business name is EPAwash (Environmental protection associates) At first, my focus was on reclaim, and that part has gotten easy and automatic. Now I'm learning about marketing the business...it's harder than it appears, although it too is getting easier. It's funny, members in this forum and others are really friendly, but local competitors are a lot more surly.

I concentrate on compliance. I have a sand and water blast contractor's lic as well as a hazardous substance removal cert. I'm hoping these will distinguish me from lesser credentialed competitors when dealing with govt agencies...but so far they haven't made any diff.

I do fleets wash, storefront and concrete, and low pressure house wash. My focus right now is on developing monthly contract work. The other thing I'm working on is to learn about chems and their best use.

I have an alcoda 3500/8gal open trailer. It's a real beauty and works great. I use the sirrocco twister vac and a purple hydrotek filtration. I'm really proud of my rig, but have undoubtably invested too much, not really knowing what's up before I got going. I never even really saw a pressure wash rig before I ponied up. But now, twenty thousand dollars spent, I'm pretty committed to the trade.

I really enjoy the forum, except the shoot the bull part where all the washers are sooo happy to be out of the business. that's scary

cheers, richard freakypapa

Hey guys. This is P-Charles from Raleigh NC. I'm new to the business so I really look forward to some tutoring from all you pros out there. I've owned and operated a mobile auto detail business for the past eight years. Business has been good but I looking for something more. It's not uncommon for my customers to ask me if I could power wash their home, deck or whatever. So here I am. My new business is Four Seasons Property Preservation, LLC. I would like to do all levels of power washing ,residential/commercial, but I particularly have an interest in exploring the roof cleaning side of the business. There are so many dirty roofs in my city. Thanks for all the help I know I will get from you guys and wish you all continued success.

New to the industry, but not new to running a business

Hello,

We are in the beginning stages of researching the ins and outs of this industry. We have done residential roofing for over 27 years and are changing direction because of many factors. The goal for us is to be able to provide great service using eco friendly products and we are in this for the long haul. Failure is not an option.[wsmile]
Who we are Randy & Kim Rousseau.
Our roofing business is still going strong after 27 years in Mich. and Kim is now living in Florida with our sons full time. I commute back & forth, for now.
We hope to gain valuable insight here and truly appreciate the wisdom that is shared.
Thanks
Randy & Kim

Eco Friendly products

I have researched and tried just about everything. The most eco friendly cleaner available is oxygen bleach. This is my opinion, but it is very strong and based on over a year of continuing research, conversations with chemist and microbiologists, and field trials.

Oxygen bleach is not the quickest or easiest chemical to use and does require more time and effort to use than bleach or hydroxide based cleaners, but it is without question the "greenest" and safest for users, the surface being cleaned, and the environment.

I also have the most cost effective source and would be happy to refer them to you. If you want to give me a call, I can help you decide how to go about using these types of cleaners.
