My name is richard, my business name is EPAwash (Environmental protection associates) At first, my focus was on reclaim, and that part has gotten easy and automatic. Now I'm learning about marketing the business...it's harder than it appears, although it too is getting easier. It's funny, members in this forum and others are really friendly, but local competitors are a lot more surly.
I concentrate on compliance. I have a sand and water blast contractor's lic as well as a hazardous substance removal cert. I'm hoping these will distinguish me from lesser credentialed competitors when dealing with govt agencies...but so far they haven't made any diff.
I do fleets wash, storefront and concrete, and low pressure house wash. My focus right now is on developing monthly contract work. The other thing I'm working on is to learn about chems and their best use.
I have an alcoda 3500/8gal open trailer. It's a real beauty and works great. I use the sirrocco twister vac and a purple hydrotek filtration. I'm really proud of my rig, but have undoubtably invested too much, not really knowing what's up before I got going. I never even really saw a pressure wash rig before I ponied up. But now, twenty thousand dollars spent, I'm pretty committed to the trade.
I really enjoy the forum, except the shoot the bull part where all the washers are sooo happy to be out of the business. that's scary
cheers, richard freakypapa
