Hello from the Buckeye state

My name is Steve. I co-own a mobile pressure washing business here in north central Ohio. My partner has been cleaning for about 5 yrs., we then formed the business we have now and have offered our services to the public for about a year now. Myself, I'm a full-time firefighter/medic, and do this on the side. However, this is a full-time business with employees, etc. I take care of alot of the sales, PR, meeting of clients, books and advertising, while my patner provides most of the field work, scheduling employees, equip. maintenance and most of the job estimates. So far, it has worked out very nicely. Right now, we are track to triple the amount of business we did the following year.

It's nice to come on here and read about other folks and see what types of things they have come up against. This is a very well done site with lots of information. We feel very lucky to have ran across it. Keep up the good work and take care. I wish everyone a very profitable year!

New in network not in business in Houston/Katy

My name is Mark and I've been PW for about 6 years in the Katy/houston area. I mainly do residential cleaning and some times a few commerical structures. This is my part time job since I'm a Houston Fire Fighter. I'm not all knowing but if some one in the houston area needs help let me know...we all can learn from one another.

Pratice on your house house first, then do the neighbors for free, then friends cheep to get used to the business. My first year I didn't make any money just gained experience. This was the time I used to perfect my pricing. I would guess-tamate the price of a house.(sq footage) Then I would measure it(linear) then I'd do the work and see how long it would take me. Say if it took me 4 hours to do a 2 story 3000 sq house. I would charge $1.50 a linear ft 50x 60= $270. OR I want to make $75 an hour= $300 or you could do sq footage 3000sq ft=300 ( $1.00 sq ft) thats 3 ways to get a price. But after a while you should be able to just walk up and measure that house and spit out a number because you know how long it will take you to clean a 3000sq ft house!!
