    Up front money

Mike, We use a 30/30/40 draw only on large projects to help cover the cost of materials. For example, we do some large concrete coating jobs. One five gallon bucket of the coating is $757. As you can see, if you had to front that money it could really cause a cash flow issue.

    Commercial Surface Cleaning

One other problem I rarely see discussed about Muriatic is that it causes flash corrosion. This means that the vapors themselves can cause corrosion on metal surfaces they contact. This could get expensive if you were working inside a metal building for example.

    Commercial Surface Cleaning

Jon, Can you shed a little light on a chem question? When do you use a caustic for flatwork and when would you avoid it? Examples would be HD-80, Zep Big Orange, or DNB-1430. Specifically, I am wanting to know any potential damages to asphalt, etc that could occur using any of these...

    Help Me Bid

Ron, I am as big an outdoorsman as anyone on these boards, but I could not agree more with Richard. It IS ridiculous nonsense! When a Home Depot store can build a parking lot for 500 cars and every time it rains all the runoff goes into the storm drain and yet we are supposed to...

    New Trailer Setup Help ......

Go with Delco. The price is very hard to beat, and all the component parts (engine, pump, etc) are the same as other brands. They will ship the trailer to you if you can't go get it. Look at it this way, I can run my RK31 till it blows up, get another new one, run it till it blows up and buy...

    Don't jump ship just yet!

Hey Mike Hughes, Which size extend-a-wand did you get? I will be using it for housewashing in order to reach those hard-to-reach spots that always seem to pop up. Thanks.

    Newbie Question

There is no really easy answer to your question. There are numerous methods of washing houses, some of which take longer than others. If you use an x-jet and do it all from the ground, probably 3 hours for a 2500 sq ft two story house. If you two step it or use other methods, that will vary.

Hey Chris, That Australian Timber Oil is gorgeous, isn't it? We use it on some of the teak decks on the lake. Love the color and depth.

    Low Ballers...

Hey Pete, Don't feel alone. Here in Charlotte, there are some "companies" washing two story houses for as little as $50. It's everywhere, so we just have to focus on quality work and fair pricing.

What Do You hate The Most About Pressure Washing?

Hey Chris, Call Xterior and get you one of those X-Jet buckets. Solves the problem of tipping over the housewash and killing all the grass.

What Do You hate The Most About Pressure Washing?

Trying to get the chemicals to the top of a very tall house. Getting absolutely soaked because you forgot to button the rainjacket. Having to be extremely careful not to damage the customer's prize winning roses as you pull hoses around the house. STRIPPING DECKS!!!!!!! What do I love...

    Water based or Oil based?

We use TWP for all semi-transparent jobs and Cabot for solid colors.

    Is this a high price?

Dude, that is beyond dirt cheap. If you can't sell 'em on cleaning and sealing a deck of that size for $200, then walk away. Best of luck.

    Barn to Clean

Yeah, Ron, I already knew about the dryer sheets thing........just trying to find a really good and efficient way to get rid of existing cobwebs. I didn't think they had 'em in NJ since all the insects are holding over Newark like all the other air traffic!

    Barn to Clean

I agree with the mild approach suggested already, but does anybody know a really good way to remove cobwebs? Those things drive me crazy and I can't ever seem to remove them totally. How bout it Bigboy, y'all got spiders out there the size of box turtles. What do you do about it?

Hover vs. Lawn Mower style surface cleaners?

Look at the Landa Water Jet surface cleaner. It is on wheels, has a light poly shell and also has a built in rinse wand. I love em.

    Vinyl Sided Home ???HELP??

Previous post is dead on correct about the weep holes. Also, while I use a different house wash mix than you described, 15 minutes sounds like an awfully long dwell time. Perhaps it could have dried or the hydroxide burned in that time? Also agree with a rewash, applying bottom to top, rinse...

    EPA Ruling

Steve, I agree with everything you said about relationship building and integrity in business. I have been struggling with how to bring this issue to the public's attention without being either alarmist or manipulative. Perhaps the best strategy is to rely on the EPA and other public...

    EPA Ruling

As I am sure you guys already know, the EPA announced this week that it is phasing out the use of CCA treated wood for residential use. The recommended abatement process for existing structures is sealing with an oil base semi transparent sealer. Any ideas how to market this without appearing...

    Injectable Deck Cleaner

Anyone have a recommendation for a deck cleaner that can be run through the downstream injector? I know TWP makes one, but the ICI store here didn't carry it last year. Any alternatives or experience with the TWP product?
